School is back in session after a nice holiday break. North Coffee is striving to become an Extra Mile School through Blue Cross/Blue Shield Walking Works for Schools program. I have asked each classroom teacher to walk 10 minutes per day. These totals are then transferred each Friday to the Walking Works website. Our physical education classes are studying how to "volley." All grade levels are practicing how to volley a beach ball up and forward. They are doing a great job. We have also played Clothespin Tag to increase their heart rate. We have revisited four position words: inside, outside, beside, and between using manipulatives. Our Tennessee health standards have us discussing the different types of family life. Many students are willing to share their personal family life with myself and their peers.
Thursday, January 8th, we had a terrific science presentation in the gym that morning. Shown below are various students participating. .
I am a Physical Educator at North Coffee Elementary School in Coffee County, TN. We are a Pre-K-5th grade school. I am a member of the Tennessee Association of Physical Education, Exercise, Health, Recreation, and Dance. Our students learn how to become more active, live more satisfying and healthier lives through movement. We also study Tennessee Health Standards weekly. I am the luckiest teacher in the school, I get to see and know each and every child.
Great site! Thanks for keep us parents up to date! dw
