End of the year silly

Soggy Field Trips

Our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades are headed off today on great field trips. It started out being a really wet morning, hopefully by the time they got to their destintion, it has cleared off. Here are a few pics of students and teachers getting ready to leave. With K and 4th grades left at school, the classes have become "buddies" and are sharing every class and lunch together today. What a bonding time! Below are Mrs. Winton and Mrs. Walkup's classes enjoying physical education class together.

Badminton and batting from a tee

Our K-3rd grades have been working on striking with an implement, easily said this past week was batting off of a tee. They had a great time while improving skills.
Our 4/5th graders have been practicing on striking with an implement, namely badminton this past week. This activity helps to improve hand/eye coordination
The Spring book fair has been this past week. I have been blessed with warm and sunny weather for my classes to enjoy the playground. Not to mention I got a great tan for free.
Sixteen days of school left as of tonight's posting.....but who is counting????

More Parachute Fun!

We are having a great time doing parachute games. We are making mountains, getting inside the mountain and discussing why the air gets so warm so fast (our body heat), and why the parachute rises when we make our space inside smaller (air pressure). We also have made a mushroom, a floating cloud, an ostrich, talked about a volcano and what happens when they explode, and made a merry-go-round. It is such great exercise and we all have to work together.

We all enjoyed a lot of fun on St. Patrick's Day. North Coffee was one big sea of green. Here is a cleaver and very funny 5th grader demonstrating how to wear a green hair clip the proper way.
We ended our week today with the annual Q and U wedding. It was the most precious ceremony I have ever seen. As we all know, where do Q and U belong....together, side by side.

First Grade Program A Success!

Our first grade students have been preparing for an amazing Spring Sing program. They have practiced so much and it certainly paid off today. They were amazing.

Parachute!

The parachute is the most amazing unit I teach. We have approximately 25 games we play. In the pictures below our students are making waves, the beginning of an umbrella, and an ostrich. We also made and discussed where tornado's and hurricane's are formed, what they are made of, and we used the parachute to demonstrate each one of these. We also talked about what the ostrich does when they become scared.

Baseball and Apple Pie

We have began to improve our skills at baseball/softball. We are playing various lead-up, indoor games as a warm-up. Below are some students getting ready to swing. Our first game this week is called "Extra Player Baseball." The outfielders had to throw the ball to every outfielder before the batter made it around all of the bases. If everyone caught it, the runner was out. If the runner made it home first, they scored a home run.
